Thermal inversion in Trieste, Italy, on the 22nd of February 2019.
Thermal inversion is a particular situation that causes a thick fog close to the ground, while just a couple of hundred meters above the weather is clear and sunny. This makes for spectacular pictures of what resembles a sea of clouds.
In this case there was a beautiful sunset, and a mounting wind that blew away the fog.
I took nearly 2.000 pictures for the timelapse.

A beautiful downburst moving in the middle of the gulf of Trieste.
Very intense, it came luckily just a few hours after a big fire posed a serious threat to a small town near Trieste. Summer 2022 has been a nightmare for temperature, drought and wild fires. This was one of the very rare showers of all year.

A strange thunderstorm for mid April, with very strong Bora wind, rapid decrease in temperature, hail and rain. At the beginning, when the cold front arrived with the strong wind, it very nearly generated a waterspout.

A nice sunset just before a storm with dozens of lightnings and then a beautiul sunrise. A small supercell visible at 25 seconds, followed by several more that lasted most of the night.

A beautiful microburst moving in the middle of the gulf of Trieste. Very intense, it nearly generated a waterspout. Then it all vanished in a few hours after a nice sunset.
